Glossary of terms


Acquirer

An enterprise that:

  1. commissions the engineering or design of a product;
  2. is a prospective purchaser of the end products of a system or a portion thereof;
  3. is a procurer of a product;
  4. is a user or consumer of the product; or
  5. an obtainer of output.

CAGE code

A unique identifier for an organization. The Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code, is a unique identifier assigned to suppliers to various government or defence agencies.

Collection

A collection is the set of spaces that are managed by a ShareAspace server. A user has a role in a collection and then given a role in one or more spaces.

Concession

Authorization to use or release a product that does not conform to specified requirements.
The way in which the product is used might be restricted.
NOTE: A concession is typically limited to the delivery of a product that has nonconforming characteristics within specified limits for an agreed time or quantity of product.

D2M

Design to manufacture. The ShareAspace D2M product

Deviation

[1] departure from a specified requirement
[2] written authorization, granted prior to the manufacture of an item, to depart from a particular performance or design requirement for a specific number of units or a specific period of time

DUNS code

A unique identifier for an organization. D-U-N-S stands for "Data Universal Numbering System.” D-U-N-S numbers are issued by Dun and Bradstreet (D&B).

OEM

Original equipment manufacturer. An organization that makes devices from component parts bought from other organizations.

Participant

ShareAspace is designed for collaboration and data sharing between different organizations. Each organization that is a member of a space is referred to as a participant. Each participant manages their own information within the space and then controls who that information is shared with. In other words the intellectual property of each participant is protected. space and controls what information is shared with them.

Partner

An individual or enterprise that is providing something to an acquirer or prime

Prime

The enterprise that is responsible for the ShareAspace deployment and is collaborating with a set of suppliers and partners.
Synonyms: Participant

Reference data

Information that is defined once and used consistently throughout ShareAspace. Typical reference data is organizations, classifications, statuses, properties and units.

RFx

Request for X where x is quotation or information. A request of a supplier for a quotation for some work or resources or for information.

RFI

Request of a supplier for information

Space

ShareAspace is organized into a set of spaces - a collection. A space is like a database setup for storing and sharing all the information and communications related to achieving a goal, initiative, or objective. A user has a role in a collection and then given a role in one or more spaces.

Supplier

An individual or enterprise that is providing something to an acquirer or prime
Synonyms: Partner

Technical data package

The product data for an item adequate for supporting an acquisition strategy, production, and engineering and supports support. The description defines the required design configuration or performance requirements, and procedures required to ensure adequacy of item performance. It consists of applicable technical data such as models, drawings, associated lists, specifications, standards, patterns, performance requirements, quality assurance provisions, software documentation and packaging details.

Work package order

Represents a package of work that is to be performed by a supplier organization under contract to an acquirer. The work could be for the design or manufacture of a product.

It is business control used in ShareAspace D2M to share data with the supplier.
